AS Roma Sees Progress Under Coach Gasperini After Victory Over Glasgow Rangers
AS Roma is feeling more confident after a 2-0 victory against Glasgow Rangers in the Europa League. This win comes after a few tough losses in both the Europa League and Serie A, leaving the team eager to bounce back.
The match in Glasgow saw Roma take control, with goals from Matias Soulé and Lorenzo Pellegrini. Soulé scored from a corner kick, and Pellegrini added another goal before halftime, assisted by Artem Dovbyk.
Pellegrini spoke about the importance of the win. “It was important to win today and get back on track. Despite what some might think, this was not an easy match,” he said. “We wanted to show that we can play consistently well, and we are improving in the right direction.”
Roma’s season started strong under their new coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, but they faced some challenges recently, especially in scoring goals. Pellegrini believes the team is still in the early stages of development but is showing continuous improvement.
“We need to appreciate how much this team is improving. At the beginning of the season, we got results, but we didn’t have the same determination and clear improvements that we saw today,” Pellegrini noted. “Our goal now is to keep getting better so that our true strength becomes clear to everyone.”
Pellegrini himself has had an interesting season. After initial uncertainty about his contract, he has worked his way back into the team. “It was difficult at first because I was recovering from an injury, but since the derby match, I’ve been playing more consistently, which is what I wanted,” he explained. “Now I feel good physically, whether I’m starting or coming off the bench. I’m happy because it was a tough summer mentally.”
He also praised Coach Gasperini, saying, “The coach expects a lot, but he knows how to motivate us. As a player and a fan, I’m very happy that he’s coaching Roma.”
Gasperini has been focusing on improving Roma’s attack, and Pellegrini feels they are making significant progress. He highlighted the importance of communication and movement in the attacking line.
“We are trying to communicate more with each other. Artem [Dovbyk] made a couple of moves today to get away from his defender, which he might not have tried before. If he keeps doing that, we can get the ball to him in better positions,” Pellegrini said. “It takes practice because it’s about making quick decisions on the field, but we are all improving.”
Roma’s victory against Glasgow Rangers and Pellegrini’s comments suggest that the team is moving in a positive direction under Coach Gasperini. They aim to continue improving and show their full potential as the season progresses.
