Michigan’s 2026 Governor Race Heats Up with Key Endorsement
Detroit, MI – Michigan’s upcoming gubernatorial race is already drawing attention as prominent figures begin to weigh in. Republican John James, currently serving in Congress, has received a significant endorsement from musician and cultural icon Kid Rock.
Kid Rock, known for his working-class appeal and conservative views, stated his support for James, expressing confidence in his ability to bring “many victories to our GREAT STATE!” The endorsement highlights the importance of the Michigan governor’s seat, which the GOP hopes to win back from the Democrats in the next election.
James, a West Point graduate, Iraq War veteran, and businessman, welcomed the endorsement from Kid Rock. He emphasized their shared love for Detroit, Michigan, and the United States, adding, “I look forward to working with him and every other Michigander to make Michigan great again!”
The endorsement comes as Kid Rock is scheduled to headline Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show,” offering an alternative to the Super Bowl halftime show.
James has also emphasized his consistent support for President Trump since 2018. Both Kid Rock and the James campaign point to their shared Detroit roots and a common vision for Michigan as a state built on hard work, manufacturing, and natural beauty.
James is considered a leading candidate for the Republican nomination. The Michigan governor’s race is expected to be closely contested.
