Robert Irwin, the young conservationist and recent “Dancing with the Stars” winner, recently shared his thoughts on American life after spending time in Los Angeles. While he appreciated the support he received from American fans, Irwin made it clear that his heart belongs in the Australian outback.
Irwin, who grew up in the Australian wilderness, admitted that the fast-paced city life of Los Angeles was a bit overwhelming. He even joked that he’d prefer dealing with a crocodile any day over navigating L.A. traffic.
“I learned to drive in America—it was the first time I’d ever driven on that side of the road, in L.A. That was the most terrifying part of the entire ‘Dancing with the Stars’ experience… was being on the road in L.A.,” Irwin said. “I don’t know how they do that. Give me a crocodile any day!”
Irwin’s comments reflect a sentiment shared by many who value a connection to nature and a simpler way of life. While he enjoyed his time in the United States, he made it clear that Australia, with its wide-open spaces and unique wildlife, will always be his home.
Even attending the Super Bowl didn’t change his perspective. While excited to be there, he noted bringing a snake with him “kind of only made sense.” Irwin’s dedication to his roots and family’s legacy is admirable.
