Robert Irwin, son of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, recently expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he received in America during his time on “Dancing with the Stars.” The 22-year-old wildlife conservationist and his partner, Witney Carson, won season 34.
Irwin, who hails from Australia, admitted he wasn’t sure how he would be received in the United States. He was touched by the incredible support he experienced. He sees his participation as representing the legacy his father created with his mother, Terri.
Irwin emphasized his goal to be a positive role model for young people, promoting wildlife conservation and passion. He views the invitation to continue week after week as a sign that his message is resonating with audiences. He found the experience of bearing his “heart and soul” to America both scary and beautiful, feeling as though he gained a new family in the process.
His father, Steve Irwin, known worldwide as “The Crocodile Hunter,” passed away in 2006.
Robert Irwin acknowledged the physical and mental challenges of “DWTS,” noting the unmatched strength of dancers. Despite his initial confidence in his fitness, he realized there was no way to fully prepare for the demands of the competition.
