Rita Moreno recently had to pull out of her scheduled appearance on the Netflix show Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, causing concern among her fans. The talented actress, who is 93 years old and an EGOT winner, was set to join fellow guests Ayo Edebiri and Conan O’Brien. Instead, comedian Tina Fey took her place, and Mulaney expressed hopes that Moreno was doing well during the show.
Moreno’s representative shared news that her cancellation was not due to any serious health issues, explaining that she experienced a sudden case of vertigo which prevented her from traveling from her home in Berkeley, California, to Los Angeles. Despite her disappointment at missing the show, Moreno was also unhappy about missing the TCM Classic Film Festival that same weekend for the same reason.
In a previous podcast appearance, Moreno described herself as “just a lucky little b—-” with “fantastic genes,” attributing her good health to her genetics. She mentioned her efforts to maintain her health, saying she doesn’t overly restrict what she eats, although she is cautious about sweets due to being pre-diabetic.
Recently, Moreno celebrated her 93rd birthday in style with a lively Mardi Gras-themed party attended by family and friends. She remarked on how remarkable it is to still enjoy life’s pleasures at her age, expressing gratitude for the love and joy brought to her by those around her.
Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on Netflix.
