Senator Rick Scott of Florida has formally endorsed Congressman Byron Donalds in his campaign for governor. Scott, who previously held the governorship before Ron DeSantis, expressed his support with enthusiasm.
“I proudly stand with President Trump to endorse Byron Donalds for Governor of Florida. Byron is a dedicated conservative who will lead with strength and make decisions that benefit every Floridian,” Scott stated.
Scott highlighted their collaborative efforts on important legislation, including initiatives to make flood insurance more affordable and to assist Floridians recovering from hurricanes. He also noted Donalds’ role in securing significant tax relief for families during his own time as governor.
In response to Scott’s endorsement, Donalds conveyed his gratitude. “Thank you, @ScottforFlorida, for your support! You’ve been a fantastic leader for our state, and I look forward to working together to strengthen Florida and make America great again,” Donalds wrote.
Donalds, who announced his candidacy earlier this year, received Trump’s backing as well. The former president praised him, stating that he would be a powerful governor and encouraged him to run.
As Governor DeSantis is unable to seek re-election due to term limits, the political landscape in Florida is shifting. The state constitution prohibits anyone from serving more than six consecutive years in the gubernatorial position.
Scott and Trump have also endorsed Ashley Moody for her upcoming Senate run, marking continued support for strong conservative leadership in Florida. Moody is striving to win a special election to finish the term of Marco Rubio, who left the Senate to join Trump’s administration.
