Richland One School Board and Superintendent Part Ways
Richland County, SC (WOLO) — In a meeting held on Tuesday night, the Richland One School Board officially agreed to move on from their current superintendent, Dr. Craig Witherspoon. After nearly a decade in the role, no specific reasons were provided for this mutual decision.
The board has decided to extend Witherspoon’s contract until June 30, 2025. However, he will still be compensated as per his original contract, meaning he will receive payment until June 2026. The decision to part ways received unanimous support from the board, with a 7-0 vote.
Following the announcement, Witherspoon reflected on his time as superintendent, expressing pride in the positive changes made during his tenure. He mentioned feeling grateful and humble for the opportunity to serve, though he has not yet revealed his next plans.
