Senator Ted Cruz Criticizes Democrats for Supporting Illegal Immigrants
Senator Ted Cruz, a Republican from Texas, has expressed disapproval over what he calls the Democratic Party’s misplaced priorities in defending illegal immigrants, including a Salvadoran national linked to the notorious MS-13 gang. Cruz remarked that many Democrats seem to be suffering from what he refers to as "Trump derangement syndrome," leading them to prioritize the rights of illegal immigrants over American citizens.
Cruz’s comments surfaced after several Democratic lawmakers, including Senator Chris Van Hollen from Maryland, traveled to El Salvador to advocate for the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was deported from the United States due to his alleged gang affiliations. This discussion gains further context as Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was recently arrested while protesting at an ICE facility alongside other Democratic members of Congress.
“The decision made by the Democrats is quite unusual,” Cruz stated. “They have effectively become the party of illegal immigrants and even gang members. Most Americans prefer not to have more violent criminals entering our country, and it’s disappointing that Democrats have become so extreme in their opposition to Donald Trump that their main stance is to invite more illegal immigrants and gang members.”
Cruz criticized Democratic leaders for making political trips to support individuals like Abrego Garcia, emphasizing that their actions suggest a call for increased illegal immigration and violence. He raised concerns about the Democratic Party’s commitment to public safety, questioning their motivation for advocating on behalf of alleged violent criminals.
Despite Democratic claims that Abrego Garcia was wrongfully deported, evidence has surfaced indicating he is indeed a member of MS-13. Court records reveal that he was identified as a gang member by law enforcement in 2019.
Further complicating the situation, Abrego Garcia’s deportation was reaffirmed by a federal immigration court, which ruled that he posed a danger to the public due to his criminal affiliations. Reports also suggest that he was involved in previous instances of human smuggling, raising serious questions about his character and intentions.
Cruz’s comments reflect a broader concern among conservatives regarding the implications of prioritizing illegal immigrants over citizens, especially those with criminal backgrounds. As the political discourse continues, the Republican Party’s focus remains on ensuring that American safety and interests are not compromised by extreme policies.
