Reba McEntire Remembers Difficult Time, Finds Strength in Friends
Reba McEntire, the beloved country singer, recently opened up about a very sad time in her life. Back in 1991, a plane crash took the lives of eight members of her band. In a recent interview, Reba shared how she coped with this terrible loss and how friends helped her through it.
After the crash, Reba said she wasn’t sure if she could perform again. Fellow country stars stepped up to help. Vince Gill offered to be there for her on stage, and Dolly Parton even offered Reba her band. Reba said it meant so much to see so many people offering support.
The plane crash happened as her band and crew were leaving San Diego after a concert. Reba wasn’t on the plane because she was scheduled to leave the next morning.
The crash took the lives of several talented people, including her tour manager, Jim Hammon, and several musicians: Kirk Cappello, Joey Cigainero, Tony Saputo, Michael Thomas, Chris Austin, and Terry Jackson, as well as vocalist Paula Kaye Evans and the two pilots, Donald Holmes and Christopher Hollinger.
Reba has spoken before about how the tragedy affected her. She said it made her realize how precious life is and that she found comfort in her faith, believing her friends went to a better place.
Soon after, Reba released “For My Broken Heart,” an album that honored those who passed away.
Also in 1991, Reba met Rex Linn. They didn’t start dating until 2020. Reba says they share a love for the “cowboy way of life.” They are now engaged.
