An Alabama man, Corey Oliver, 41, will spend his life in prison without parole for attacking a woman he was dating.
Officials say that Oliver has a long history of breaking the law. A jury found him guilty in July of hurting and raping the woman. The attack involved beating and choking her, even using a knife.
The District Attorney, CJ Robinson, mentioned that Oliver had many prior felony convictions and arrests. These started with drug and property crimes but got worse, turning into violent sex crimes.
Robinson expressed relief that Oliver is now off the streets, unable to harm anyone else. He also thanked the judge for the tough sentence.
The crime came to light in 2024, even though it happened back in 2018. The District Attorney’s office worked with the local Sheriff’s Office to make sure Oliver was stopped for good.
