Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss has decided to take a break from his role as an analyst at ESPN to focus on a personal health issue. The 47-year-old athlete shared this news in a recent statement, where he openly asked fans to keep him and his family in their prayers.
Moss made his announcement through an Instagram post while on the set of ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown.” In his message, he particularly encouraged men to take their health seriously by getting regular checkups, although he did not share details about his specific condition.
“I just ask for all the prayer warriors to put their blessing hands on me and my family through these hard times. People were talking about my eyes last week,” Moss mentioned, before wearing a pair of sunglasses. “I’m battling something, but I’m going to get through it. I have a wonderful team of doctors and a great family supporting me.”
Over his impressive 14-season career, Moss played for multiple teams, including the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers. He is known for ranking second all-time in touchdown catches with 156, just behind Jerry Rice, and accumulating a total of 982 receptions for 15,292 yards.
Randy Moss was honored with induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018. ESPN praised him in a statement, noting his significant contributions to the network, saying, “Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating Countdown with his insight and passion. He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”
