Bay Area High School Girls Shine in Glow-in-the-Dark Football Game
San Francisco, CA – During the week of the Super Bowl, local talent took center stage at a special sporting event. The Toyota Glow-Up Classic, a unique glow-in-the-dark flag football game, featured high school girls from the Bay Area. The game was held inside San Francisco’s Moscone Center, on the same field used for the Pro Bowl.
Adding to the excitement, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, a popular figure in the area, participated as a coach for the game.
“It was awesome to have the ability to coach up some high school girls and watch them compete and for Toyota to put on such a cool event. I thought it was just an amazing thing,” Purdy said after the game. He also mentioned the unique setting, noting, “That’s where the Pro Bowl was played. So, for us to be able to go out there and those girls have fun, score touchdowns, jump in like a Tundra. It was a fun night”
The Glow-Up Classic offered a memorable experience for the young athletes, combining the fun of flag football with a vibrant, illuminated setting. The players showcased their skills under the lights, creating an engaging and exciting atmosphere for everyone involved.
Adding to the star power of the event, Eli Manning and Kylie Kelce served as officials during the game. Their presence brought an extra level of excitement and recognition to the young athletes participating.
Purdy mentioned with a laugh that Eli Manning wasn’t perfect with his calls. “They did a great job. I mean, Eli threw a couple flags where I was like, ‘Dude, come on.’ Like, we had a big play. Eli threw a flag, called it back. So, I wish I had a challenge flag to be able to throw out there, but he did a good job,” Purdy joked.
Another notable coach at the event was Puka Nacua. Despite being rivals on the field, Purdy said that they were able to set aside their differences for the sake of the event.
“We were chilling. I mean, we both had a good time,” Purdy said. “Puka is a competitor. Love his game and everything, but to be able to go out there and coach up some girls and have fun with it. It was pretty sweet.”
The Toyota Glow-Up Classic provided a platform for these young women to shine, promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and community engagement. The event not only celebrated the talent of local high school athletes but also created a memorable experience for players and fans alike.
