CLINTON, S.C. — The Presbyterian College football team wrapped up their 2024 season on a high note, defeating #23 Butler 30-27 in an exciting finale on Saturday afternoon. Quante Jennings delivered a standout performance in his final game, while fellow senior Worth Warner contributed two touchdowns to the victory.
Under the leadership of head coach Steve Englehart, the Blue Hose ended the season with an impressive six wins, marking their best season in a decade. This victory also marked a significant milestone, as it was the first time the team defeated a nationally-ranked opponent during their time in the Pioneer Football League.
The team celebrated an undefeated November for the first time since 2002 by securing four straight wins—their second four-game winning streak in Division I history, the first being in 2007. Despite giving up a two-touchdown lead early in the third quarter, the Blue Hose displayed remarkable resilience, responding with a 17-0 run that solidified their lead.
Most of their scoring came during the second and third quarters, accounting for 27 of their 30 points. This victory against Butler, a team that came into the game with a 9-2 record and a four-game winning streak, was particularly sweet as it marked the team’s sixth win in the Pioneer Football League and allowed them to finish the season with a home win for the second consecutive year, all while claiming a memorable win over a ranked opponent for the first time in a decade.
