The “Little House on the Prairie” podcast touched on recent difficult events during a January episode. The host, Pamela Bob, spoke with Dean Butler and Alison Arngrim about how the show offers comfort during tough times.
This followed the arrest of Timothy Busfield, who is married to Melissa Gilbert, known for playing Laura Ingalls in “Little House on the Prairie.” Busfield faces charges related to child sex abuse and is currently in jail in New Mexico.
The podcast didn’t directly mention the charges against Busfield.
Busfield turned himself in to police after an arrest warrant was issued. He denies the charges, which involve two 11-year-old boys he worked with on the TV show “The Cleaning Lady.” He appeared in court, and a judge decided he would remain in custody until a further hearing.
Prosecutors are trying to keep Busfield in jail while he waits for his trial. They also brought up an old claim of sexual abuse from 25 years ago, involving a 16-year-old girl. No charges were filed in that case. The theater company involved is looking into the old claims.
Melissa Gilbert released a statement saying she supports her husband. She asked for privacy and said she would not be making any public statements while the legal process is ongoing.
If Busfield is found guilty, he could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
