China’s Pop Mart is excited to announce the launch of a new mini version of its beloved Labubu plush toys this month. This also includes a plush with long fur, adding to the charm of the cute character.
Labubu, created by artist Kasing Lung, made its debut in 2015 through a series of picture books inspired by Nordic tales. A partnership with Pop Mart began in 2019, aimed at bringing these unique toys to fans worldwide. However, it wasn’t until this year that Labubu really gained popularity, particularly when keychain versions of the toy were released.
Starting on August 29, Pop Mart will offer mini Labubu vinyl plush pendants for $22.99 each. These are part of “The Monsters Pin For Love” series and will come in various colors represented by letters of the alphabet. Moreover, the collection includes blind boxes that feature 30 unique patterns of letter pendants, priced at $18.99 each.
Additionally, Pop Mart is introducing the Rock the Universe vinyl plush doll, part of “The Monsters Big Into Energy Series.” This new plush will feature a pearl-and-alloy heart necklace and boasts long fur using a special dyeing technique, ensuring that no two dolls are the same. These dolls will retail for $114.99.
All new products will be available for purchase on Pop Mart’s website, with options for in-store pickup or delivery. Customers can also find them on Pop Mart’s app and official TikTok accounts.
The Labubu line has proven to be incredibly successful for Pop Mart, with revenue more than doubling in 2024, reaching 13.04 billion yuan (about $1.81 billion). The plush toy segment of Pop Mart grew by over 1,200%, contributing nearly 22% of the company’s total revenue. Recently, Pop Mart reported a remarkable increase in profit, with first-half earnings soaring nearly 400%, and overall revenue jumping over 200% to 13.88 billion yuan ($1.93 billion). The Asia Pacific region alone saw revenue growth of more than 250%, while sales in the Americas skyrocketed by over 1,000%.
