A tragic incident occurred in Bankstown, a suburb of Sydney, on Thursday night, April 17, around 10:30 p.m. A 45-year-old woman was reportedly kidnapped from her home by a group of masked men armed with guns. During the chaotic situation, her two sons, aged 15 and 8, were injured; the younger boy sustained serious head injuries after being attacked with a baseball bat.
Emergency services were alerted to a vehicle fire about an hour later, in Beverly Hills, where the body of a woman was discovered inside a burnt-out car. Although the identity of the remains has yet to be officially confirmed, authorities suspect it to be that of the kidnapped woman.
According to reports, five men were involved in the kidnapping, arriving in two vehicles—a white sedan and a black SUV. Witnesses described hearing screams during the attack, leaving neighbors shocked by the violent event. A local resident remarked on the surprising nature of this crime, pointing out that the woman was known to be friendly and kept to herself.
The two boys were taken to the hospital for treatment. The younger son remains in a serious but stable condition and is currently in an induced coma after undergoing surgery. Meanwhile, the older son also received medical attention.
Superintendent Rodney Hart addressed the media, expressing concern for the children who witnessed the abduction of their mother. He labeled the incident as a horrendous act of violence and assured the public that police are committed to bringing those responsible to justice.
Hart also highlighted that, based on initial information, the family was not known to police and did not appear to be part of any organized crime activities. Investigations are ongoing, and police are treating this as a targeted attack.
Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the intense fire, which was located about four miles from the kidnapping scene. As the smoke cleared, they faced a grim discovery while assessing the situation.
The community is feeling shaken by this incident, with many residents expressing fear at the violence that has erupted in their usually quiet area. Authorities are continuing their investigation, seeking more information about this shocking crime.
