Illegal Immigrant in Pittsburgh Faces Serious Charges After Attacking Federal Agents
Pittsburgh, PA – A man from Nicaragua, who is in the United States illegally, is facing serious charges after a violent encounter with federal agents in Pittsburgh. Darwin Alexander Davila-Perez, 33, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of assaulting a federal officer.
The incident began when the Department of Homeland Security received information that Davila-Perez had attempted to purchase a firearm from a local dealer. During the attempted purchase, he allegedly claimed to be a U.S. citizen. However, the sale was stopped when the dealer discovered that Davila-Perez was a Nicaraguan national without legal permission to be in the country. Federal law prohibits individuals in the country illegally from owning or buying firearms.
On December 17, 2025, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents tried to stop Davila-Perez’s car to take him into custody for immigration violations. Instead of stopping, Davila-Perez reportedly resisted.
According to the indictment, Davila-Perez put his car in reverse and crashed into a law enforcement vehicle that was occupied. He then allegedly exited his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.
During the ensuing struggle, Davila-Perez is accused of elbowing an officer in the face, attempting to remove an agent’s weapon from its holster, biting an officer’s arm, and striking an agent in the forehead with a pair of handcuffs.
Agents gave commands in both English and Spanish for Davila-Perez to stop resisting and show his hands. However, he reportedly ignored these commands until he was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
The incident resulted in several agents sustaining injuries, including bite wounds, scrapes, and bruises, which required medical attention.
If convicted, Davila-Perez could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He will remain in custody while the case is ongoing.
