DOJ Employee Terminated for Disrespect Toward National Guard
In a recent turn of events, Attorney General Pam Bondi took decisive action by firing Elizabeth Baxter, a paralegal in the Department of Justice (DOJ), for her disrespectful behavior towards a member of the National Guard. This incident occurred in Washington, D.C., earlier this month while Baxter was on her way to work.
According to reports, Baxter arrived at her office around 8:20 a.m. on August 18 and, while speaking with a security guard, boasted about making an obscene gesture at a National Guard member at the Metro Center Metro Stop. She allegedly expressed her disdain by saying, “F–k the National Guard.”
Bondi made it clear that such conduct is unacceptable within the DOJ. “I took action to terminate a DOJ employee for inappropriate conduct towards National Guard service members,” she stated. “This DOJ remains committed to defending President Trump’s agenda and fighting to make America safe again. If you oppose our mission and disrespect law enforcement, you will NO LONGER work at DOJ.”
Later that day, security footage reportedly captured Baxter again using an offensive gesture, repeating her hostile remarks towards the National Guard. This behavior did not go unnoticed, as she continued to vocalize her disdain in the days that followed.
In her termination letter, Bondi emphasized that Baxter’s actions warranted her removal from the position of Paralegal Specialist, effective immediately. “You are removed from your position and from the federal service,” the letter stated.
This incident follows a broader push by the Trump administration to enhance the presence of federal law enforcement in Washington, D.C., with the aim of reducing crime. The addition of hundreds of federal agents and National Guard troops has been part of this effort to ensure community safety.
Baxter’s firing aligns with recent actions taken within the DOJ. Just weeks prior, another employee, Sean Charles Dunn, was dismissed for allegedly throwing a sandwich at a Customs and Border Protection officer. Such incidents highlight a growing concern about the behavior of DOJ personnel and emphasize the importance of respect for those serving in law enforcement.
Moving forward, the DOJ is reinforcing its commitment to uphold respect for all members of law enforcement and ensure that any employee who fails to do so faces swift consequences.
