A little girl in Oregon is getting better after being hurt by two dogs. The dogs got out of a neighbor’s house on Sunday.
Merissa Carron told KATU news that she was coming home from church with her two daughters. The dogs ran out when she let her daughters bring their food inside.
She said she pushed her older daughter out of the way, but the dogs were after her baby. She tried to pull the dog off her baby.
The family has a fundraising page online. It says the baby is doing okay after her surgery, and they might need to do another surgery.
KATU news said the baby broke her skull and lost skin on her head. She also got bit near her eye, stomach, and back. She’s getting help at a children’s hospital in Portland. She will need more medical care.
Carron said the dogs came from next door. She said the dogs ran out when the neighbor opened the door.
One of the dogs was given up and put to sleep. They are still deciding what to do with the other dog, according to KATU.
Carron said she told the property managers about the dog before.
She said she told them the dog would get out and hurt a child badly.
She also said someone saw other problems with the dogs before, but the police don’t have any reports about it.
Carron is worried about her older daughter too. She said her 3-year-old will be sad because of what happened.
The online fundraiser has collected over $5,000 to help pay for the baby’s care and her mom’s time off work.
