Police have opened a case related to human trafficking after Maria Kovalchuk, a 20-year-old Ukrainian OnlyFans model, was found injured on a Dubai road. She had been missing for ten days after telling her friends she was going to a hotel party in Dubai.
Maria disappeared on March 9 and had not been heard from until she was discovered on March 19 with serious injuries, including a broken spine and limbs. She was rushed to the hospital and underwent four surgeries. Her mother, Anna Kovalchuk, expressed hope for her daughter’s recovery.
Authorities in Dubai stated that Maria got her injuries by entering a restricted construction site where she fell from a height. However, her family disputes this explanation. At this time, the police in Dubai have not commented on the matter.
Currently, Maria’s condition is stable, but Ukrainian police have now launched an investigation into her case. The National Police of Ukraine, specifically from her home region of Lviv, announced that they are looking into possible human trafficking.
On March 29, police initiated a pre-trial investigation, but no suspects have been named yet. The Ukrainian National Police and the Ukrainian Consulate in Dubai have not responded to inquiries regarding the situation.
Before her disappearance, Maria had mentioned staying with two men who claimed to represent the modeling industry. There’s uncertainty about whether she made it to the party she mentioned to her friends, as the promoter did not report seeing her.
Following her medical treatment, Maria is reportedly unable to speak and was found without any identification or mobile phone. Supporters have been leaving messages of encouragement on her Instagram account, where she is known as “Mary Lu.” She has not posted since February.
