Two baby crocodiles were found in a home in Yonkers, New York. Police officers were at the house for something else on December 9 when they found the crocodiles.
The Yonkers Police Department said the crocodiles were found in an apartment. Wildlife experts were called to take care of the animals.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation said they got a report about someone having reptiles without permission. The crocodiles were taken to a safe place with the right license. The person who had them got tickets for breaking the law.
Mark Perpetua, who owns a reptile business, is now taking care of the crocodiles. He said they seem healthy. One is a Morelet’s crocodile that could grow to 9 feet long. The other is a dwarf caiman that grows to about 5 feet.
In New York, you need a special license to have any kind of crocodile.
