Ciattarelli Says Sherrill Out of Touch with New Jersey Values
New Jersey’s Republican candidate for governor, Jack Ciattarelli, has been making his case to voters, arguing that his opponent, U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, is not aligned with the values of the Garden State. In a recent town hall, Ciattarelli pointed to several key issues where he believes Sherrill is out of step with New Jersey residents.
Ciattarelli stated that Sherrill’s voting record reflects policies that are too liberal for New Jersey. He specifically mentioned her stance on border security, saying she has supported policies that weaken our borders. He also criticized her for not supporting a bill aimed at preventing crimes by those who are not legally in the country.
The Republican candidate also highlighted differences on the issue of sports, noting Sherrill’s votes against protecting girls’ sports from being dominated by biological males. Ciattarelli emphasized the importance of fair competition for female athletes.
On law enforcement, Ciattarelli argued that Sherrill has supported measures that undermine the police. He said she voted in favor of policies that would make it harder for police officers to do their jobs and protect communities.
Ciattarelli also brought up ethical concerns, reminding voters that Sherrill has faced scrutiny for her stock trading activities while serving in Congress.
In contrast, Ciattarelli is emphasizing his deep roots in New Jersey, highlighting his family’s long history and business ties to the state. He is presenting himself as a candidate who understands and shares the values of New Jersey residents.
Sherrill, who has represented New Jersey in Congress since 2018, has lived in the state for over a decade. She previously served as a Navy helicopter pilot.
Ciattarelli is hoping to win back the governor’s office for the Republican Party. Recent polls suggest the race is very close, and Ciattarelli is focusing on drawing a clear contrast between himself and Sherrill. He believes that by highlighting their differences on key issues, he can convince voters that he is the better choice for New Jersey.
