Dallas Cowboys Star KaVontae Turpin Faces Legal Troubles
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin was arrested on July 5 in Allen, Texas. He faced charges for unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of marijuana. The incident led to his booking at the Collin County Jail.
Turpin, 28, was released the following day after posting a bond of $1,500. Reports indicate he was found with less than two ounces of marijuana. The breakdown of his bond included $500 for the marijuana charge and $1,000 for the weapons charge.
This isn’t Turpin’s first legal issue. He was previously dismissed from Texas Christian University in 2018 due to assault charges. In 2019, he pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend, which resulted in two years of probation and participation in a 27-week intervention program.
Despite these challenges, Turpin signed a three-year, $18 million contract with the Cowboys earlier this year, making him one of the highest-paid special teams players in the NFL. Last season, he had a standout performance, leading the league in kick return average.
As Turpin moves forward, he expressed a desire for personal growth and accountability during training camp, signaling his commitment to improving both on and off the field.
