Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently came to the defense of Elon Musk after some media reports claimed that Musk made a Nazi salute at President Trump’s inauguration rally. On social media, Netanyahu stated that Musk is being unjustly accused.
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Musk, stating, “Elon is a great friend of Israel.” He noted Musk’s visit to Israel after the tragic events on October 7, when Hamas carried out a horrific attack against the Jewish people. Netanyahu emphasized that Musk has consistently supported Israel’s right to defend itself against those who wish to eliminate the nation.
Musk made his gesture while speaking at the Washington, D.C. rally, declaring, “This is what victory feels like! And this was no ordinary victory, this was a fork in the road for human civilization… Thank you for making it happen, thank you. From my heart to yours.”
However, some media outlets reacted by suggesting that Musk’s gesture resembled a fascist salute. PBS News Hour and other outlets criticized him, prompting Musk to respond on social media. He pointed out that the accusations seemed to come from those who had prioritized other issues over the controversy surrounding him.
The Anti-Defamation League also weighed in, stating Musk’s action appeared to be a misinterpreted enthusiastic gesture rather than a salute of hate. They urged everyone to pause and consider the context before jumping to conclusions.
In a time when tensions run high, it’s essential to seek understanding and perspective.
