Search Continues for Missing 84-Year-Old Woman; Family Pleads for Her Safe Return
The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie continues as authorities work to bring her home safely. The FBI is involved in the investigation, and the family has made heartfelt pleas for her return.
Guthrie was last seen on January 31st after her son-in-law drove her home following a family dinner. Concerns arose the next morning when she missed her usual Sunday church service. Family members discovered she was missing and alerted authorities.
The FBI confirmed that a ransom deadline passed without any further communication from those believed to be holding her. The initial ransom demand involved a large sum of money in Bitcoin, but no proof of life has been provided.
Local law enforcement is working closely with the FBI. Sheriff Chris Nanos stated, “Right now, we believe Nancy is still out there. We want her home.”
Investigators have revealed that blood found near Guthrie’s home has been confirmed to be hers. Security camera footage showed movement on the property in the early morning hours of February 1st, but a clear image was not captured.
As of Friday, February 6th, there are no formal suspects identified, but investigators are considering all possibilities. The FBI is offering a reward of $50,000 for information leading to Nancy’s safe return.
Adding to the distress, a man from California has been charged with sending a fake ransom demand related to the case. Derrick Callella, 42, allegedly sent texts and made phone calls to the family after they publicly stated they were willing to negotiate for their mother’s safe return. Authorities have clarified that this individual is not connected to the actual kidnapping.
The family emphasizes the urgency of the situation, stating that Nancy requires daily medication for her well-being. She is described as mentally sharp but has limited mobility and relies on a pacemaker.
With the help of the FBI, Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, a television personality, along with her siblings, released a video on social media pleading for their mother’s return. They requested confirmation that she is alive and safe.
“We need to know, without a doubt, that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen,” Savannah stated in the video, joined by her brother and sister.
As the investigation continues, law enforcement emphasizes the need for unity and prayer. We should stand together as a community to support the Guthrie family during this difficult time. It’s a reminder of the importance of strong families and the values that hold our society together. We must trust in the rule of law and the dedicated men and women of law enforcement to bring Nancy home and ensure justice is served.
