Morgan Wallen is returning to the popular NBC show “Saturday Night Live.” The announcement came on March 19, when the show revealed the lineup of hosts and musical guests for the upcoming weeks, with Wallen scheduled to perform on the March 29 episode. He will share the stage with Mikey Madison, known for her role in “Anora.” Wallen last appeared on the show in December 2020.
During that December appearance, Wallen had originally been set to perform two months earlier. However, he faced backlash after being photographed at a party in Alabama, where he was seen not wearing a mask and mingling closely with college women, which violated COVID-19 protocols. This incident resulted in his disinvitation from the show.
When Wallen finally made it to “SNL,” he participated in a sketch that poked fun at his previous actions. He teamed up with host Jason Bateman, who cleverly portrayed Wallen in a fictional future scenario, warning that his partying ways would lead to consequences, including getting kicked off the show.
Wallen expressed his regret about the earlier situation through an Instagram video, stating he was not positive for COVID but acknowledged his behavior was irresponsible. He took full responsibility for jeopardizing the show’s safety and apologized to everyone involved, including his fans.
Over time, he reflected on his struggles and mentioned that he had lost his way a bit, seeking happiness in the wrong places. To focus on self-improvement, Wallen announced he would take a step back from the spotlight.
In addition to Wallen, the “Saturday Night Live” lineup also includes Jack Black hosting on April 5, with performances by Elton John and Brandi Carlile. Jon Hamm will host on April 12, with Lizzo as the musical guest. Fans eagerly await Wallen’s upcoming fourth album titled “I’m the Problem,” set to be released soon.
