Tragic Discovery of Three Sisters in Washington State
In a heartbreaking incident, three young sisters—Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5—were found dead near Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, Washington, on June 2. Their father, Travis Decker, is currently missing and wanted on charges including murder and kidnapping.
The girls were reported missing after they failed to return from a planned visit with their father on May 30. Concerns grew when he did not bring them back on time, prompting their mother, Whitney Decker, to seek help.
Whitney’s attorney, Arianna Cozart, shared with The Seattle Times that Whitney had an alarming sense when Travis didn’t return the kids. After the girls were found, Whitney’s lawyer highlighted concerns surrounding Travis’s mental health, which they believed should have led to an Amber Alert being issued instead of a less urgent missing person alert.
Whitney had expressed worries about Travis’s behavior and had filed for divorce in November 2022, citing issues that suggested he might not be fit to parent. She had requested that he undergo evaluations for anger management and psychological assessment.
Cozart mentioned that critical signs were overlooked, stating, "It could have made a huge difference" for the girls. Authorities indicate that the sisters likely died by asphyxiation, based on preliminary findings.
As the search for Travis continues, police have executed search warrants and are urging anyone with information to come forward. They emphasize that Travis, with skills in wilderness survival, may be hard to locate.
A community effort has seen a GoFundMe page for Whitney gain significant support, raising over $910,000 to assist with legal costs during this difficult time.
