A 12-year-old boy in Georgia has suffered severe burns on his face after a dangerous prank during a sleepover. The boy’s mother, Tiffany West, shared with local news that the accident happened the morning after the sleepover, when three other boys allegedly poured boiling water on him while he was asleep at a neighbor’s apartment.
West explained that her son was quickly taken to a burn center in Augusta, where he needed surgery to address his injuries. He is currently at home recovering but is expected to heal for about 12 to 14 days.
The Tifton Police Department stated that the three boys involved, aged between 12 and 15, are facing charges, although it is not clear what those charges entail. The family of the injured boy revealed that the other children have returned to their families and are waiting for their upcoming court hearings scheduled for next month.
West expressed her feelings about the incident, stating, “I really can’t describe it now. I was just mad, hurt, in shock. Everything.” She emphasized her need to get her son medical help as quickly as possible.
The boy’s aunt, Nachelle, shared her concern, saying it is shocking to realize that friends could do something like this. She noted that both she and West have had to take time off work to attend to the boy’s needs during his recovery, which has been a challenging time for the family. Nachelle added that her nephew may require counseling to help him regain trust after this traumatic experience.
