A Michigan woman has admitted guilt in the death of her three-year-old son, Matthew Maison, who died in 2018. Amanda Maison and her former boyfriend, Maurice Houle, were arrested in April and charged with the child’s murder.
The little boy was found dead by his babysitters at his home in Port Huron Township.
Amanda, who is 33 years old, pleaded guilty to second-degree homicide.
Prosecutors said that Amanda and Houle allegedly wanted to “make room” for a baby they could have together, and that the couple admitted to abusing the child.
In court, Amanda said she had abused Matthew, including pushing his head into a wall. She also admitted to helping Houle abuse the child and hiding it from authorities. She also admitted to trying to cover up how Matthew died.
Houle and Amanda’s relationship ended on the day Matthew died. Both were charged with first-degree murder and pleaded not guilty. Amanda is now expected to testify against Houle in his trial, which is scheduled for early 2026.
