After weeks of anticipation, Matko Miljevic is officially joining Racing Club. The deal was finalized this Monday after the midfielder passed his medical examination and signed a contract committing him to the club until December 2029. Miljevic, who previously played for Huracán, is expected to be a key addition to Gustavo Costas’ squad as they prepare for the upcoming season, which kicks off at the end of January.
The transfer involved a series of intense negotiations between Racing Club and Huracán. Ultimately, Racing agreed to acquire 80% of Miljevic’s rights for $3 million. The agreed-upon payment structure will see the amount paid in 16 installments.
Miljevic expressed his excitement about joining Racing Club. As he left the medical clinic, he told reporters that his decision was made “with my heart,” highlighting his strong connection to the club. When asked about the possibility of wearing the iconic number 10 jersey, he said it would be an honor to wear that number for the team.
Miljevic has already spoken with Coach Gustavo Costas about his role on the team. He emphasized his ability to play in various positions, stating that he is ready to contribute wherever the team needs him most. He is expected to join the team immediately in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, where they are finishing their preseason training.
Fans may get their first glimpse of Miljevic in action on January 18, in a friendly match against Universidad de Chile in Concepción. Throughout his career, Miljevic has played in 126 matches and scored 14 goals. Along with Valentín Carboni, he represents one of the fresh faces joining Racing Club. His versatility and experience are anticipated to bolster the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
