Michelle Pfeiffer Celebrates Career Milestone at TCL Chinese Theatre
In a heartfelt ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, actress Michelle Pfeiffer took time to reflect on her early career and the path that led her to success. During a recent hand and footprint ceremony, held on April 25 as part of the TCM Classic Film Festival, Pfeiffer reminisced about her very first acting job—a Ford commercial.
The Golden Globe-winning star recounted the chilly experience of filming that commercial, describing how she felt “so excited” after completing an acting class. Living in Midway City at the time, she received a day off from her job at a local supermarket and drove to the commercial’s set in her red Volkswagen Beetle.
Arriving at the deserted Malibu production office in the middle of the night, Pfeiffer faced an anxious wait with no one in sight. “I was freaking out because this is my big break,” she recalled, as the sun rose and the hours ticked by. Eventually, someone arrived, and she quickly found herself filming on the beach, even while shivering in her tank top and cutoff shorts. “All of a sudden, I am a working actor,” she said with a smile.
Now, after more than four decades in the industry, Pfeiffer joked that she still finds herself “showing up in the middle of the night.” Yet, her joy for acting remains strong. “I love actors, I love directors, I love writers. I love, love, love crews,” she said. Los Angeles has become her home, a place where she feels safe and values the connections she’s made over the years.
Among those celebrating with her were fellow actresses Dakota and Elle Fanning, along with her partner David E. Kelley. Pfeiffer has certainly come a long way since those early days, with a noteworthy career that includes iconic films like Grease 2 and Scarface, alongside several Academy Award nominations.
Looking ahead, she is set to reunite with Elle Fanning in the upcoming film Margo’s Got Money Troubles, based on a novel by Rufi Thorpe. As Pfeiffer continues to shine in Hollywood, her passion and dedication to her craft remain as vibrant as ever.
