Drake Maye Addresses Shoulder Concern Ahead of Super Bowl LX
Santa Clara, CA – New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has acknowledged concerns about his shoulder as the team prepares for Super Bowl LX. However, the second-year player is confident in his ability to play at his best.
Maye arrived in Santa Clara earlier this week with a shoulder issue. Both he and the Patriots coaching staff have been downplaying the seriousness of the injury leading up to the highly anticipated game.
“I feel good. I’ll be just fine,” Maye stated during Super Bowl opening night. He added, “I threw a good bit, as much as I would at a normal practice. I felt great and looking forward to getting back out there Wednesday and Thursday for practice and Friday to get ready for a normal week of prep.”
Maye had been listed as questionable due to the shoulder ailment and an illness during the Patriots’ bye week. But since arriving in San Francisco on Sunday, he says he has “turned a corner.”
“I felt good from the flight and throwing out there today. I think it turned the corner, and I really had no doubt being 100% for the game, this is the Super Bowl,” Maye explained. “We get two weeks to prepare for it and do whatever we got to do to get it right. I’ve got confidence and feel good.”
Maye, a strong contender for the MVP award this year, is expected to do everything he can to be fully fit for Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium. If he starts, he has the potential to become the youngest quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl. The current record holder is Dan Marino.
Head Coach Mike Vrabel has expressed his faith in Maye’s ability to perform well, despite some difficulties during the playoffs.
Vrabel mentioned that he was pleased with how the ball was coming out of Maye’s hand during recent practice sessions.
“I thought that the ball came out good. I thought it was a crisp practice for Drake and for everybody else,” Vrabel said.
The Patriots are set to face a tough challenge in Super Bowl LX, but with a confident quarterback and a supportive coach, they are aiming for victory. The game promises to be an exciting contest between two talented teams.
