Max Verstappen Skips Miami Grand Prix Activities for Family Reasons
In Miami Gardens, Florida, four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has decided to miss the media events ahead of the Miami Grand Prix. Verstappen is with his partner, Kelly Piquet, as they anticipate the arrival of their first child.
Details regarding Kelly’s due date remain unclear. Red Bull Racing officially announced Verstappen’s absence from Thursday activities, but they confirmed he is expected to join the team in time for Friday’s on-track sessions. Piquet’s sister mentioned last week that Kelly was too far along in her pregnancy to travel for Sunday’s race.
Max and Kelly, who began their relationship in 2021, are preparing to welcome their first child together. Piquet already has a daughter named Penelope from a previous relationship with driver Daniil Kvyat, with whom Verstappen shares a close bond.
Verstappen, currently third in the series standings with 64 career victories, has won four consecutive F1 championships. This season, he has secured only one win, while McLaren has demonstrated strong performance, leading up to Sunday’s race, which is the sixth of the season. Verstappen has previously won both Miami Grand Prix races, while Lando Norris from McLaren celebrated his first Formula 1 victory at this event last year.
