The iconic horror franchise, Scream, continues to evoke nostalgia and excitement among its fans. On March 30, original cast members including David Arquette, Jamie Kennedy, Matthew Lillard, Dermot Mulroney, and Skeet Ulrich gathered at the 90s Con event for a special panel. The discussion, moderated by Breanne L. Heldman, focused on their experiences with the franchise and what’s ahead for the upcoming Scream 7.
Fans were treated to insights about their beloved characters and the legacy of the series. Lillard expressed a mix of excitement and nerves regarding his return, highlighting his determination to honor the franchise while admitting, "I could really screw up a legacy." He hopes to contribute positively rather than diminish the series’ impact.
Since the release of the first Scream film in 1996, the franchise has become a classic in the horror genre. With five sequels and a TV series spotlighting the famous Ghostface character, Scream has left a lasting mark on cinema.
Throughout the series, numerous iconic stars have portrayed victims of the Ghostface killer, such as Drew Barrymore and Sarah Michelle Gellar. The fervor remains strong as Scream 7 is set to hit theaters on February 27, 2026, directed by Kevin Williamson, who also wrote the original script.
Fans can look forward to the return of familiar faces, including Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell, the latter of whom missed Scream 6 due to a pay dispute. Campbell expressed her gratitude for being invited back, stating how much the series means to her and her eagerness to reprise her role.
As excitement builds for Scream 7, viewers eagerly await the next chapter in this legendary horror saga. The 90s Con, which takes place at the Connecticut Convention Center, reflects the ongoing love and appreciation for this iconic series that has shaped the horror landscape for decades.
