Memorable Encounter for ‘Little House’ Star Matthew Labyorteaux
During a recent episode of his podcast, Patrick Labyorteaux shared a hilarious yet chaotic memory from his youth involving his brother, Matthew, who starred as Albert Ingalls on the beloved show Little House on the Prairie. The brothers attended a Renaissance fair in California when an unexpected crowd of fans surrounded Matthew, leading to a comical rescue operation.
Patrick recounted how he, his brother, and friend Al Eisenmann approached the fairgrounds, excited for the fun. As they made their way to "The Kissing Bridge," where boys hoped to catch the attention of girls, Matthew, being younger, opted for a giant turkey leg instead of participating in the romantic antics.
However, things took a turn when Matthew found himself overwhelmed by fans seeking to kiss the real-life Albert Ingalls. Patrick described the scene as his brother held onto his turkey leg while being bombarded by admirers.
With laughter, Patrick explained, “It was a nightmare for my brother.” As panic set in, Al shouted, “Albert down! Albert down!” prompting the duo to rush in like a rescue squad to save Matthew from the crowd, ensuring both he and the turkey leg made it out unscathed.
Though the moment was intended for fun, it turned into an unforgettable experience for the young actor, showcasing the unexpected challenges of childhood fame.
Little House on the Prairie continues to warm hearts and is available for streaming on Peacock.
