Martha Stewart, a well-known businesswoman, recently shared her thoughts on the idea of being a “trad-wife,” a term that’s been getting a lot of attention online.
During a talk on Molly Sims’ podcast, Stewart, who is 84 years old, talked about becoming a successful businesswoman and how she could relate to many women. She said she always saw herself as an “every woman” and preferred the term “homekeeping” over “housekeeping.” She also mentioned that she now identifies with the term “trad-wife,” seeing herself as an early example of this lifestyle.
The term “trad-wife,” short for “traditional wife,” describes women who value their femininity, take care of their families, and prioritize their homes. These women are not seen as subservient but rather as embracing traditional roles.
Stewart explained that managing both her home and her business came naturally to her. She combined her knowledge of business from her time in the stock market with her interest in homekeeping.
Stewart’s career began with catering, and she later found success as a cookbook author and television personality. She brought all her ventures together under the name Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, which went public in 1999. On its first day, the company’s stock price doubled, making Stewart’s share worth over a billion dollars.
Stewart also talked about how becoming wealthy allowed her to enjoy life more. She mentioned driving down Madison Avenue and feeling like she could buy anything she wanted.
In recent years, Stewart has also become known for her presence on social media. She started posting “thirst traps,” or attractive photos, and even appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue.
Stewart admitted that her social media activity has led to many people contacting her, but she said she is not currently in a serious relationship. Instead, she focuses on her friendships.
