Nick Marsh, a former standout wide receiver for Michigan State, has decided to continue his college football career with Indiana University. His mother, Yolanda Wilson, confirmed the move, noting that Marsh has two years of eligibility remaining.
Marsh’s departure is a setback for Michigan State, especially for their new coach, Pat Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald was recently hired to replace Jonathan Smith, who was let go after two seasons. Marsh initially reaffirmed his commitment to Michigan State after Smith took over from Mel Tucker. However, following Smith’s dismissal, Marsh entered the transfer portal.
During his time at Michigan State, the 6-foot-3, 203-pound receiver made a significant impact. Over two seasons, he caught 100 passes for a total of 1,311 yards and scored nine touchdowns. In the 2025 season, Marsh led the team with 59 receptions, 662 receiving yards, and six touchdowns. His performance earned him an honorable mention for the All-Big Ten team. In 2024, he also set a Michigan State freshman record with 649 receiving yards and 41 catches, tying for the team lead with three touchdowns.
Marsh is heading to Indiana, where the Hoosiers are currently ranked number one nationally. They are preparing to face Oregon in the College Football Playoff semifinals. This season, Indiana secured their first Big Ten title since 1967 and are making their second consecutive appearance in the College Football Playoff.
In addition to Marsh’s departure, offensive lineman Cooper Terpstra is reportedly transferring from Michigan State to Central Florida. Terpstra, a 6-foot-4, 313-pound sophomore, started at center for the Spartans in their final game of the season against Maryland. These transfers highlight the changes occurring within the Michigan State football program as the new coaching staff takes over.
