A man from South Florida has been convicted for pretending to be a flight attendant in order to take 120 free flights. Tiron Alexander, 35, was found guilty on June 5 for committing wire fraud and unlawfully entering secure areas of an airport. He will be sentenced on August 25.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, Alexander used fake identities to book flights over a span of several years, from 2018 to 2024. He claimed to work for seven different airlines and provided approximately 30 bogus badge numbers and hiring dates while applying through an airline carrier’s website.
Alexander managed to fly on 34 separate occasions by falsely posing as a flight attendant with three different airlines. He was charged after an investigation by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
With his conviction, Alexander faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years for wire fraud and an additional 10 years for the airport security breach.
