A Florida man has been arrested over a year after his girlfriend was tragically shot while lying in bed with their three children.
Porshe Streeter, 30, lost her life during what appeared to be a home invasion at their Orlando home on January 13, 2024, as detailed in an arrest warrant affidavit.
Saun Rainge Jr., the father of Streeter’s children and a witness to the incident, was taken into custody this week, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Benjamin Garmon was also arrested, accused of carrying out the shooting under Rainge’s direction.
On the night of the incident, Rainge called 911 to report a shooting and told operators that Streeter was in the bedroom. When officers arrived, they found Rainge had a gunshot wound to his arm. He initially claimed that he had been followed into the apartment by an armed intruder who shot Streeter as she reached for her phone.
Rainge said he wanted to rush to get help but stayed behind at the insistence of his son, who urged him to help Streeter. However, investigators later challenged Rainge’s account, pointing out evidence, including dried blood around Streeter’s wounds and a medical report suggesting she had likely passed away hours before the 911 call.
Additional evidence, such as witness statements and security video, suggested that Streeter may have been killed about two hours before Rainge made the emergency call. Reports indicate that Rainge was not allowed at the residence at that time, based on messages exchanged with Streeter.
Authorities were able to identify Garmon through security footage and a description provided by the couple’s 10-year-old child.
Both Rainge and Garmon now face first-degree murder charges. As of Friday, there was no public record of a plea from Rainge, and Garmon’s criminal history was not available.
