Arrest Made in Death of Young Boy in Panorama City
A 20-year-old man, Malik Brycson Gaddis, was arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a young boy’s body near a dumpster in Panorama City, California. This incident took place on July 12, and the boy is believed to be between 5 and 7 years old.
Gaddis’s arrest occurred on July 16, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Los Angeles Police Department. In addition to the murder charge, he is also being held on a domestic violence warrant, with bail set at $2 million.
Before Gaddis, five other individuals were briefly detained in relation to this case, with another suspect arrested on unrelated charges. LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell mentioned during a police commission meeting that the boy showed visible signs of trauma, but his identity has not yet been confirmed.
The young boy was found on the 8200 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, prompting a swift police response. Det. Meghan Aguilar described the scene as horrific, emphasizing the emotional impact such tragedies have on the community.
Community members held a vigil to honor the boy, expressing their grief and the need for justice. “He needs to get justice. Justice needs to be served for him,” said resident Jose Gonzales, highlighting the community’s desire for accountability in this tragic situation.
The LAPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking case.
