Lori Vallow, an Idaho woman found guilty of killing two of her children, recently sent a message to her only surviving son, Colby Ryan. This message reached him through a journalist at a panel during CrimeCon on September 5.
During the event, hosted by Nate Eaton, it was revealed that Vallow, who is currently imprisoned, wanted to express her love for Colby. Eaton shared her message, stating, “If you talk to Colby, please tell him that ‘I love you very much, no matter what.’”
Vallow also referenced a Bible verse, Matthew 25, in her message. This verse discusses the separation of good and evil, which Eaton explained to the audience. In response, Colby interpreted this as his mother’s way of trying to portray herself as godly.
He stated, “It’s her trying to talk about the wicked and the good being sifted apart. So it’s her way of trying to say she is still good and, basically, godly.”
When asked if he wished to speak with his mother again, Colby replied, “No.”
Lori Vallow was convicted in 2023 for the murders of her two children, 7-year-old Joshua “J.J.” Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan. She received a life sentence, and her former husband, Chad Daybell, was also found guilty in connection with their deaths.
Vallow’s troubling beliefs included the idea that her children were “zombies,” claiming they were possessed by dark spirits, which led to her and Daybell believing they were on a mission to eradicate these entities before the second coming of Jesus Christ.
In addition to her murder convictions, Vallow is also found guilty of conspiracy to murder Daybell’s previous wife and her niece’s ex-husband, with these incidents occurring in 2019. She is currently serving multiple life sentences.
