Lindsey Buckingham Reacts to Charli XCX’s Bold "Von Dutch" Music Video
Lindsey Buckingham, the legendary musician from Fleetwood Mac, recently shared his thoughts on Charli XCX’s music video for "Von Dutch." Along with his daughter, Leelee Buckingham, he showcased their reactions in a fun video series titled "Lindsey + Leelee React."
During the video, Lindsey, who is 75 years old, admitted that he isn’t very familiar with Charli’s work but has heard positive feedback about her. He humorously remarked that he’d had his own "brat summer" when Leelee asked him about it.
The music video, set in Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris, features Charli in a daring outfit, which Lindsey described as “saucy.” He expressed surprise at the choices made in the video, especially when Charli, 32, boldly walks on the wing of an airplane. Lindsey questioned how she managed to get away with such antics, noting the airport’s strict regulations.
With each scene, including Charli’s wild antics as she takes on the camera, Lindsey reacted with a mix of astonishment and amusement. "I thought it was very entertaining," he said at the end of the video. He appreciated how the chaotic theme played out in an otherwise serious setting, calling it an interesting contrast.
The "Von Dutch" music video is gaining recognition, having been nominated for Best Cinematography at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. Charli herself expressed excitement about filming at the iconic airport, although she admitted that performing on the wing of the airplane was quite nerve-wracking.
Lindsey’s light-hearted commentary has certainly added a unique perspective to the video’s reception, showcasing the fun dynamics of a father-daughter duo reacting to modern pop culture.
