LeBron James recently strained his groin during a game against the Boston Celtics, but he isn’t overly worried about it. After the Los Angeles Lakers’ 111-101 defeat, James made it clear he’s taking things day by day and won’t rush back onto the court.
“Not much concern,” he said. “I’ll evaluate my situation each day and see how it improves.”
James sustained the injury while defending against Celtics player Jaylen Brown, leaving the game with just under seven minutes left to play. Despite the injury, he still managed an impressive performance with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists. James recalled a similar injury he suffered back in 2018 during a crucial holiday game, which kept him out for 17 games that season.
“I’ve been there before, and I know what type of injury we’re dealing with,” James noted, but he expressed optimism that this injury isn’t as serious.
He also thought about his former teammate Anthony Davis, who experienced a similar injury shortly after being traded to the team. “That’s crazy. But I thought about AD,” James said.
Luka Doncic, a prominent player in the league, emphasized the importance of giving the injury proper time to heal. “He’s got to take his time,” Doncic stated. “Those injuries can be tough.”
The Lakers, whose eight-game winning streak was halted by Boston, are currently aiming to regain their momentum. After falling to third place in the Western Conference standings, they face a challenging schedule ahead.
The team is on a four-game road trip, with their next game set for Monday night against Brooklyn. They will also compete against strong teams like Milwaukee and Denver later in the week before returning home for a series of games.
“I believe in my team,” James said confidently. “No matter who is in the lineup, we must stick to our game plan. We’ve dealt with player changes throughout the season, and nothing should change now.”
