Nestle USA is taking a proactive step by recalling certain batches of its Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s frozen meals due to concerns about potential contamination with a “wood-like material.” This announcement comes after reports, including one involving a choking incident.
The recall specifically affects a limited number of meals with best-before dates ranging from September 2025 to April 2026. The affected items include Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry, and Stouffer’s Party Size Chicken Lasagna. These products were distributed to major grocery stores across the U.S. between September 2024 and this month. Fortunately, no other products beyond those listed are involved in this recall.
Nestle officials are currently collaborating with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Agriculture Department to investigate the source of the wood-like material. Their decision to initiate the recall was prompted by reports from consumers, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
Consumers are advised to check the batch codes and best-before dates against the company’s recall notification to determine if they have purchased any affected products. The required 10-digit batch code can be found on the side of the product packaging.
If you have any of the recalled products, it is important not to prepare or consume them. Instead, return the items to the store where they were purchased for a replacement or a refund. For further inquiries, Nestle USA can be contacted at (800) 681-1676 during business hours, Monday through Friday.
