Top Military Leaders Visit Puerto Rico to Thank Troops
Two of the nation’s top military leaders are scheduled to visit Puerto Rico this Monday. The purpose of their trip is to meet with American troops stationed there and express gratitude for their important work in supporting missions across the Caribbean and Latin America.
Pentagon officials announced the visit, noting that it will include meetings with service members in Puerto Rico and those serving on ships in the Caribbean.
General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and SEAC David L. Isom will make the trip. This marks General Caine’s second visit to Puerto Rico this year, showing the ongoing importance of the island to our national security.
In September, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth visited Puerto Rico to demonstrate the Trump administration’s support for the troops training there.
These visits come at a time when the U.S. military is increasing its presence in the Caribbean Sea. This is part of a broader effort to combat drug trafficking from Latin America and protect our nation from the dangers it poses.
Secretary Hegseth recently announced “Operation Southern Spear,” a mission focused on dismantling narco-terrorist networks in the Western Hemisphere. This operation underscores the commitment to securing our borders and keeping our communities safe from the scourge of illegal drugs.
The U.S. military has been actively targeting vessels used by terrorist organizations to traffic narcotics in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific. These operations are crucial for disrupting the flow of drugs and weakening the networks that profit from this illegal activity.
