The FBI recently announced the results of “Operation Broken Crown,” a three-month effort targeting the Latin Kings street gang. This operation, spanning multiple states, led to the arrest of nearly 50 gang members and associates.
The initiative involved collaboration between over a dozen FBI field offices and various federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies. It focused on curbing the Latin Kings’ criminal activities, including drug trafficking and threats against law enforcement.
Since the operation’s start last October, authorities have seized more than a dozen firearms, nearly $200,000 in illegally obtained money, and over 10 kilograms of drugs, including cocaine and fentanyl. These actions demonstrate a continued commitment to upholding law and order.
This operation shows the ongoing effort to dismantle violent gangs and protect communities. Removing these dangerous elements from our streets leads to safer neighborhoods and a stronger society for everyone.
In one instance, a Latin Kings member explicitly threatened a law enforcement officer in October 2025, which led to his subsequent arrest. Such threats highlight the gang’s disregard for the rule of law and the dangers faced by those who protect our communities.
In Minnesota, another alleged gang member was charged with possessing a firearm as a felon and stealing government property after breaking into an FBI vehicle and taking a rifle. These crimes further illustrate the gang’s involvement in illegal activities and their willingness to endanger public safety.
An investigation by the FBI in Indianapolis resulted in a Latin Kings member being sentenced to 21 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. This conviction demonstrates the serious consequences faced by those involved in drug trafficking and the commitment of law enforcement to holding them accountable.
In another operation this January, the FBI Milwaukee Area Safe Streets Task Force executed search warrants, arrested four Latin Kings members on drug and firearm charges, and seized 10 firearms and over $120,000 in illicit funds. Additional arrests in Milwaukee led to the recovery of a rifle with a machine gun conversion device and a pistol.
These successful operations highlight the importance of supporting law enforcement and giving them the resources they need to combat gang violence and drug trafficking. By working together, federal, state, and local agencies can effectively address these challenges and create safer communities for all citizens.
The effort to dismantle the Latin Kings network demonstrates the ongoing commitment to enforcing laws, reducing crime, and protecting our nation’s values. By supporting law enforcement and promoting policies that prioritize public safety, we can strengthen our communities and ensure a better future for everyone.
