Two Knicks Fans Stabbed in Altercation at Indiana Brewery
Two fans of the New York Knicks were stabbed during a confrontation at a brewery in Carmel, Indiana, while they were watching the NBA Playoff game against the Indiana Pacers on Friday night.
The incident took place just before 11 p.m. on May 23. Police arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a disturbance and found two men injured from stab wounds. One victim was stabbed in the back and was taken to a local hospital, while the other suffered a stab wound to the leg and got medical help on his own.
Authorities arrested a 24-year-old man named Jarrett Funke at the brewery. He has been charged with several felonies, including using a deadly weapon to cause injury and reckless behavior with a weapon, as well as a misdemeanor battery charge.
Witnesses stated that Funke had approached the Knicks fans at the bar and knocked a Knicks hat off one of their heads. After being removed from the bar, he continued to shout at them, threatening to take the conflict outside.
Shortly after, the Knicks fans went to the patio and were once again confronted by Funke, who allegedly stormed through the fence and attacked them. One victim tried to deter Funke by showing a pocket knife, but ultimately put it away, not intending to use it. Funke claimed the argument started when the fans pushed him and began hitting him.
During the altercation, Funke retrieved his own knife and swung it at one of the Knicks fans.
The game ended with the Pacers defeating the Knicks 114-109, giving the Pacers a 2-1 lead in the series.
