Kim Kardashian recently shared a heartfelt memory about her engagement rings and a vital piece of advice from her ex-husband, Kanye West. During an episode of The Kardashians, Kim recounted how West warned her not to wear both of her engagement rings at once. This caution proved to be significant, especially after she was robbed in Paris in 2016.
Kim explained that her first engagement ring from Kanye, a cushion-cut diamond, stayed home when she traveled to Paris. She said, "That was the only piece of jewelry I owned that I didn’t take to Paris." It turns out that this decision helped save her the heartbreak of losing such a precious item.
Originally, West proposed to Kim in 2013 with a stunning 15-carat ring but later upgraded it to a dazzling 20-carat ring that debuted in 2016. Kim shared that she had once worn both rings to a Madison Square Garden event and posted a video showing them off. However, after receiving Kanye’s warning, she was more cautious.
Recalling the moment, Kim said, “Kanye saw it and he goes, ‘Don’t you ever wear both of your rings at the same time. Are you looking to get robbed?’” This warning was soon proven wise when, later that same year, she was the victim of a terrifying robbery where several pieces of jewelry were stolen from her hotel room while she was held at gunpoint. The estimated value of the stolen items surpassed $10 million, including her newer engagement ring, which was valued at around $4 million.
After the robbery, Kim made the decision to avoid wearing flashy jewelry for a number of years. However, during a recent episode, she mentioned to her sister Khloé that she might start wearing diamonds again, a thought Khloé fully supported.
Additionally, Kim revealed a touching plan for her engagement ring. She intends to pass it down to her daughter, North, who was present during the proposal and even held the ring shortly after her birth. Kim’s engagement took place in a grand manner at San Francisco’s AT&T Park, where Kanye had organized a romantic setup complete with an orchestra and a special message on the jumbotron.
Kim and Kanye were married in May 2014 but divorced nearly seven years later in 2021. Despite their separation, they co-parent their four children: North, 11, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5. As new episodes of The Kardashians continue to air on Hulu, fans eagerly await more insights into their lives.
