Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce Recovers After Hard Hit in Buffalo Game
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce experienced a tough moment during the recent game against the Buffalo Bills. In the first half, Kelce took a significant hit while attempting to catch a pass in the end zone.
Bills defensive back Cole Bishop made contact with Kelce, causing the Chiefs star to take a moment before getting back on his feet. He then walked off the field with what appeared to be some discomfort.
During a recent episode of his podcast, “New Heights,” Kelce talked about the play and how it affected him.
“It knocked the wind out of me,” Kelce explained. “I got kind of sandwiched in there.” He indicated that while he knew he would be okay, he needed a moment to recover his breath.
Kelce appeared frustrated by what happened next. According to Kelce, after the hit, he was told to go into the medical tent for evaluation. Because it was halftime, he was directed to the locker room instead. He questioned the need for the standard concussion protocol questions, such as “What day is it?” and “Who did we play last week?”. Kelce expressed his annoyance at having to answer such questions when he felt he knew exactly what was going on.
Despite the hit, Kelce acknowledged the spirited atmosphere created by the Buffalo fans. He said he appreciated the opportunity to play at Highmark Stadium, despite the opposing fans’ trash talk.
The Chiefs currently have a 5-4 record. Despite the team’s performance this season, Kelce remains a key player, leading all tight ends in the league with 540 receiving yards. He has made 41 catches out of 53 targets, scoring three touchdowns.
The Chiefs are currently on a bye week.
