Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from a hospital in Nigeria, following a car accident on December 31st. The accident, which occurred near Lagos, resulted in the unfortunate deaths of two of Joshua’s close friends.
Matchroom Boxing, the promotion company that represents Joshua, confirmed that he had been receiving treatment for minor injuries sustained in the two-vehicle collision.
Reports indicate that the vehicle Joshua was traveling in collided with a stationary truck on a major road outside of Lagos. A video circulating on social media showed Joshua exiting the vehicle, appearing to be in discomfort.

Omotoso also noted that Joshua, accompanied by his mother, visited a funeral home in Lagos to pay their respects to his friends who passed away. The remains of the deceased were being prepared for repatriation later that evening.
The two individuals who lost their lives in the accident were Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, both of whom were close associates of Joshua.
Ghami served as Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele worked as a trainer. In a post made on social media just hours before the accident, Joshua shared a video of himself playing table tennis with Ayodele.
